Buenos Aires’ permanent cultural activity gives rise to numerous local, national and international festivals, conferences and conventions year round.  Some of the main and best attended events are:

Quilmes Rock (March/April)
Location: Estadio River Plate, Avenida Figueroa Alcorta 7597, Nuñez
This rock festival, the most important in Argentina, brings together high profile national and international rock bands.

Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente – BAFICI – (April)
Location: Movie theaters throughout the city
Over 200 films by Latin American independent filmmakers are presented at this festival.

La Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires (April/May)
Location: La Rural, Predio Ferial de Buenos Aires – Plaza Italia, Palermo
The largest and most important book fair in the Spanish speaking world gathers authors, educators, librarians, publishing companies, bookstores, scientists and readers from around the world.  Countless stands and numerous daily activities are available.

Feria de Arte Contemporáneo arteBA (May)
Location: La Rural, Predio Ferial de Buenos Aires – Plaza Italia, Palermo
This contemporary art fair is the best attended cultural event in Buenos Aires and the most important of its kind in Latin America.

Exposición Rural (July/August)
Location: La Rural, Predio Ferial de Buenos Aires – Plaza Italia, Palermo
The most important agricultural and livestock exhibition in Latin America.  A country fair - Argentine style – complete with colorful gauchos riding beautiful horses.

Buenos Aires Festival de Tango (August)
Location: Varios venues throughout the city
Tango concerts, dance lessons and workshops are held at cafes and theaters throughout the city.  A huge outdoor milonga is the culminating event and paves the way for the world Tango championship which follows over the next several days.

Campeonato Mundial de Baile Tango (August)
Location: Varios venues throughout the city
This world Tango dance championship features the best tango dancers from around the country and the world.

Buenos Aires Feria Internacional de la Música – BAFIM - (September)
Location: Centro Municipal de Exposiciones, Avenida Figueroa Alcorta y Pueyrredon
This music fair features conferences, workshops, clinics, shows and debates.

Festival Pepsi Music (September/October)
Location: Estadio Obras, Avenida del Libertador 7395, Nuñez
This rock music festival gathers the best of the nacional rock bands and invited international bands.

Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (October, every odd-numbered year)
Location: Various theaters throughout the city
This festival gathers theater, dance, music and visual arts performances from around the world.

Casa FOA (October – December)
Location: Varies from year to year
An exhibit where designers, architects, and landscapers display the latest trends in their field.

La Noche de los Museos (November)
Location: Museums throughout the city
On “The Night of the Museums” over 100 museums and art galleries, both public and private, are  opened to the public free of charge from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m..  This cultural event is enhanced with musical performances and video and film displays in different venues throughout the city.

Creamfields (November)
Location: Varies from year to year
This local version of the world’s most important electronic music festival draws huge crowds from throughout Argentina and Latina America.

Feria de las Naciones (November)
Location: Centro Municipal de Exposiciones, Avenida Figueroa Alcorta y Pueyrredon
This mega exhibit is an international marketplace where items of all kinds from around the world can be purchased.

Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo (November/December)
Location: Campo Argentino de Polo, Avenida del Libertador y Borrego, Palermo
Since 1893 this annual championship has brought together the world’s best polo teams and stands as the most important international polo tournament.

Buenos Aires Jazz Festival Internacional (December)
Location: Various venues throughout the city
This festival is a celebration of jazz with indoor and outdoor concerts, exhibits, talks and jam sessions.
